Cute Big Sisters

We have five new kittens at our house right now, bringing our total cat count up to 10. That's still down from our all-time high of 19, but for two people who don't even like cats, ten is about nine too many. On the plus side, we've never had a mouse in our house and Avery and June think they've died and gone to heaven. The kittens are their new favorite toys.



I admit that kittens are pretty darn cute. I don't know what it is about them, but they put some kind of spell on me that makes me pick them up, snuggle 'em and babble on in baby-talk. A couple days ago we were playing in the backyard. I had two kittens curled up on my lap when I looked down and said, "Babies are so cute!" Avery, who was playing nearby, looked over at me and added, "So are big sisters!" She was right, big sisters are pretty darn cute. And maybe just a tad bit jealous, too ;)
