Slobbered

We just had our last steer butchered and we are out of the cattle industry.

As disturbing as it may sound, my kids enjoy watching the butchers do their thing. I'd have to agree that it's kind of cool. They come out and shoot the animal right there in the field and the rest (skinning, dressing, a quartering) is an art.

The girls watched our pigs be slaughtered last year. When they found out the same thing was going to happen to our steer Avery said,

"Maybe the cow getting slobbered will be better than the pig being slobbered. C'mon, June!"

And off they ran to watch the show.

Peanut butter toast, anyone?

Avery: "That's not gonna happen to me, Dad. Is it?"
