Feed Me!

Dinnertime is a battle every night. I've come to expect that the minute I put dinner on the table Avery is going to protest. She doesn't like trying "new" food. It doesn't matter how many times we've had a certain dish, if we aren't having breakfast for dinner, it's something new and she has to be forced to eat it.

We set a certain amount of bites that she's required to eat each night, and without fail she begs for one of us to feed her. Apparently that makes my cooking less repulsive. Since she is completely capable of feeding herself, we refuse.

We try not to compare our kids to each other, but occasionally it happens. The other night it happened. After exhausting the list of reasons why she needed to feed herself, we finally said, "June is only two-years old and she feeds herself just fine!"

Then, with a smile as if to say, "thanks for the suggestion," Avery turned to June and asked, "June, will you feed me?"

And June did. Little rascals!
