Debt Free!

Once upon a time Grandpa and Grandma Ross took us to Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point to see the Christmas lights. It was amazing...until Avery saw this light wand and got it in her head that she couldn't live without it:

She pitched a HUGE fit to get us to buy it for her. I told her we weren't going  to buy it but she could pay for it with her own money. The wand cost $10!! I thought she had $11 at home in her piggy bank, so on her word that she'd pay us back every penny we bought it for her. When we got home she only had $3. (Doh! So much for my memory.)

At that point she became our indentured servant. Normally she gets a $1 prize at the end of each week if she does her chores every day. Now she had to do her chores every day with no prize for 7 weeks. That's a long time for a kid! To her credit she did awesome! She got up every morning and set to work on her chores first thing. (The threat that she'd lose the wand if she didn't was a huge motivator.)

When her debt was almost paid off she decided to speed things up a bit. She started making magnetic towers and selling them. "June the Generous" bought one for $1. She needed it to work on her aim with her new bow and arrow:

`

After we set an egg on top of her tower June pulled back the bow and sneered, "I'm having eggs for lunch!"

Avery is now debt free and June had eggs for lunch. Everyone is happy.
